Oadby and Wigston Council has sent off its local plan to the Planning Inspector. It sets out where homes will be built over the coming years.
The orange areas below are where new estates will go. Working from Left to right, as you can see, a lot of the gap between Oadby and Wigston will be filled in.
The area east of Stoughton Road and North of Manor Road and Extension and Copse Close will be built on. There's also to be building south east of Smore Slade Hills and Hill Field.
Finally, a big area of land north of the Pastures and east of Windrush Drive will be build on - this is just a small part of the government-backed New Town, most of which is over the border in the Harborough district.
All this is the result of the decision of the Labour government to DOUBLE the housing target for Oadby and Wigston - even while cutting targets in Leicester and other large cities.
A completely unfair decision which will change our area quite dramatically.
