Neil visits 'drained Foxton Locks'

Neil O'Brien, MP for Harborough, visited Foxton Locks in the constituency, which included a unique opportunity to actually enter the drained locks.

The locks were completely drained of water ahead of some important work being carried out by the Canals & River Trust. This is the longest and steepest 'staircase' flight of locks in the UK.

Work carried out will include replacing some of the lock gates and repairs to historic brickwork.

Neil said, "Foxton Locks is one of the most popular visitor attractions in the constituency, so it was really interesting to visit again and this time actually step into the locks.

Important repair and restoration work is going to be carried out to ensure it remains a popular place to visit for many many years to come. There will be a series of open days for the public, so I'd very much encourage anyone interested to visit their website for details."
