I’ve received an update from the Minister of State for Local Government regarding the city expansion plans.
Thousands of residents have made it clear that we do not want to be absorbed into the City of Leicester.
Nearly 12,000 people across Oadby, Wigston, Great Glen and surrounding villages responded to my referendum, with an overwhelming majority making their views clear:
❌ 96.7% said no to Leicester expansion.
✅ 2.9% said yes.
Despite this overwhelming opposition, ministers are continuing to pursue these permanent changes.
This is not what local people want, and it is simply not right. I will continue challenging ministers and fighting to ensure your voices are heard.
