Community relations and tackling loneliness

One of the things that makes this such a special place is the really strong sense of community.  That’s true in Harborough, Oadby and Wigston too.  There is a huge amount of voluntary and charity work here, and I’m keen to support this wherever possible.

I’ve held a series of events to bring together the different groups who are working to tackle the problem of loneliness – and you can find a directory of some of them on the left of this page.

I brought together one “volunteers fair” to help voluntary groups attract new members and often meet with the different groups in our area.

I am working hard for good community relations between people of all the different faiths and none. This is a very welcoming area and we have good relations between different groups.

I’ve been Chairman of Governors for a state primary school, been a trustee of a tree planting charity, and I spent six years doing outreach work with homeless people. I am interested in most types of voluntary and community life and happy to come visit different groups if you get in touch with me here
